Venus Farm

Venum Farm

A successful export business focused on community upliftment

Situated on the shores of Lake Victoria, the world’s largest tropical lake, Venus Farm produces an array of rose and flower varieties. The hot, humid weather conditions of the lake basin are conducive to the production of high yields throughout the year.

Efficient export processes

Venus Farm is strategically positioned just four kilometres from the country’s largest airport, Entebbe International, ensuring the smooth transfer of flowers to the end customer both internationally and domestically. Around four metric tonnes of cut roses are exported to Holland each week.

Floriculture experts

Covering an area of 40 acres (sixteen hectares), the farm cultivates a range of unique rose varieties including Konfetti, Frisco, Sacha, Lambada, Escimo, Peom, Sunbeam, Chelsea and Yellow Chelsea, all of which have seen an increase in demand in the European market.

Power to the community

Venus Farm employs around 400 staff, mostly rural Ugandan women who are paid a competitive salary. In fact, our employees are among the highest income earners in the rural areas. Generous benefits packages are also provided, including pension schemes, medical assistance, transportation allowances and accommodation, which seek to empower one of the country’s most poverty stricken demographic groups.

Where to next for Venus Farm?

The farm has experienced rapid growth with the recent acquisition of an additional 1,000 acres (405 hectares) for expansion into a significant tree plantation venture. Just 100km from Kampala on the road to Masaka, the plantation includes eucalyptus, pine, teak and mahogany trees.
