Rainbow International School

Equipping young minds with skills for a bright future
In a developing country such as Uganda, in which 50% of the total population are under the age of 18, high quality, affordable education is vital.
As a socially responsible organisation, the Midland Group sees Rainbow International School as one of the ways in which we are able to contribute positively to the local community.
Uganda’s specialist school
Based in Kampala, Rainbow International School is the only school in the country offering an entirely British education system from kindergarten to university entrance level (A levels), due to the fact that its competitors have changed from the British National Curriculum to the IB system (with the PYP and MYP curriculums for the younger age groups). Registered with the Department for Children, Schools and Families in the UK, Rainbow is highly regarded both locally and internationally as Uganda’s ‘specialist British school’, serving a niche requirement for sound, consistent schooling that is on a par with UK standards.
A multicultural experience
With a fees structure considerably lower than that offered at other international schools in Uganda, Rainbow has been able to attract students from the local population as well as an expatriate community of around forty nationalities, creating a uniquely inclusive, multicultural atmosphere. Our over staff of over 100 teachers is made up of fifteen different nationalities.
A stimulating learning environment
The learning experience is designed to empower students and equip them with life skills. Teachers provide a motivating environment, emphasising the importance of independent learning through investigation, experimentation and practical involvement.
Rainbow provides students with a holistic education, enabling them to succeed in a rapidly changing world
Students are encouraged to interact with others to facilitate the learning process and develop their social abilities.
The past & future for Rainbow
Rainbow International School began in 1991 as a primary school of 29 students. By 1995, the school had moved to its current nine acre site with its purpose-built classrooms, administration block and extensive playing fields.
Since then, the student numbers have grown steadily (to around 780 in 2010) and this has been matched by the development of the amenities and the expansion of the curriculum with a full secondary school programme up to A Level now offered, along with boarding facilities.
Having the clearly defined objective of the providing an exemplary British education has given the school almost unlimited potential to develop further. To serve the rising number of applicants, a further twelve acres of land adjoining the current site was recently purchased for further expansion and development.
