Marketing across the globe The group management did not restrict its activity merely towards domestic markets. Its strong presence in Africa gave it an advantage to grow and export rose flowers to Holland. The project is called Venus Farms Ltd., and is located at Entebbe on the shores of Lake Victoria on a 12-hectare site. The farm is already growing a good set of varieties, which have performed well in terms of revenue earnings. The varieties presently grown are Konfetti, Frisco, Sacha, Lambada, Escimo, Peome, Sunbeam, Chelsea and Yellow Chelsea. The site is located very strategically on the shores of the lake Victoria and close to airport at Entebbe. It minimizes problems in maintaining post harvest quality and managing export shipments. Airfreight capacity out of Uganda has risen to keep pace with demand, and given the assistance of a marketing agent, securing access to the necessary airfreight capacity is not thought to be a problem. Freight in Uganda is internationally competitive compared to some other major origins.
