Our services

Midland Forex Bureau has a wide customer base which includes most of the country’s major importers and exporters. The company deals in all major currencies including the Euro (€), US dollar (US$), and British Pound (£). As part of our inclusive service offering, we undertake cash deposits for our banking clients as well as making cash collections within Kampala.

Midland Forex Bureau is licensed by The Central Bank of Uganda and is a member of the Uganda Forex Bureau and Money Remittance Association.

Quick Ugandan currency facts

• ATM: ATMs are available in the larger Ugandan cities.
• Banking hours: Most commonly Mondays to Fridays between 8.30am and 2.00pm, or 9am and 12pm on Saturdays. Midland Forex Bureau is open until 5pm and we are able to carry out international electronic transfers.
• Credit cards: American Express, Diners, MasterCard and Visa are accepted but not widely used throughout the country as cash is preferable. Some large hotels, restaurants, travel agencies and shops in urban areas accept credit cards.
• Currency: Uganda Shilling (UGX). Notes are in denominations of UGX 50,000, 20,000, 10,000, 5,000 and 1,000. Coins are in denominations of UGX 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1.
• Currency restrictions: The import and export of local currency is prohibited. However, the import of foreign currency is unlimited if declared upon arrival. The export of foreign currency must not exceed the amount declared upon arrival.
